Enneagram instinct test
Your type is why you do things. Your instinct is where your energy goes first: staying secure, belonging to the group, or connecting intensely with one person. Find your lead instinct and your stacking, then see which of the 27 subtypes you might be.
- SP · Self-preservationYour attention goes first to keeping life running: energy, health, money, home, and having enough for whatever comes next.
- SO · SocialYour attention goes first to the group: where you belong, what people need, how you're seen, and how you can contribute.
- SX · One-to-oneYour attention goes first to intensity: the person, idea, or experience that pulls you in and makes you feel fully alive.

Questions
What are the three Enneagram instincts?
Self-preservation (SP) is attention to safety, resources, health, and comfort. Social (SO) is attention to belonging, roles, and standing in groups. One-to-one (SX, also called sexual) is attention to intense individual connection and chemistry. Everyone has all three; one usually leads.
What is an instinctual stacking?
Your stacking is the order of your three instincts, from the one that leads to the one you neglect most—for example SP/SO/SX. The last one is often called your blind spot.
What is an Enneagram subtype?
A subtype is your Enneagram type combined with your dominant instinct, such as self-preservation 4 or social 6. With nine types and three instincts there are 27 subtypes, and they can look quite different from one another.
How accurate is a short instinct quiz?
It's a starting point. Instincts are harder to self-report than types because they shape what feels normal to you. Read all three descriptions and notice which one you'd least want to lose.
